Justin Brown excited to work with Jones; Despite size, Brown played some slot last year

NORMAN — For Justin Brown, the opportunity to work with a quarterback who has experienced success like Landry Jones is exciting, he said Monday.

Brown, a senior wide receiver who transferred from Penn State, is already making a big impression on his teammates and coaches. The 6-foot-3, 210-pound wideout comes from a more run-oriented offense, but did show an ability to make big plays last year when he had opportunities.

Last year, Brown spent some time in the slot because of injuries, although his big frame would seem more suited for a position split out wide. OU is, of course, seeking to replace its main slot guy from last year, now-Detroit Lion Ryan Broyles.

“Usually a 6-3, 212 guy is an outside receiver,” Brown said last season, according to the Centre Daily Times. “But being in the slot, it gives me a good opportunity to get certain matchups against linebackers and safeties. And just helps me become an all-around receiver.”
