NORMAN — Oklahoma junior guard Bronson Irwin said Tuesday his transition into the starting lineup has gone well so far, and that he felt prepared for it because he planned on competing for a starting role anyway.

Irwin, a Mustang native, became the starter at right guard after senior Tyler Evans tore his ACL in the Sooners’ first fall practice.

“I was fighting to start anyway (before Evans’ injury),” Irwin said. “When that happened, I was ready to go.”

Irwin had been working more at left guard, but said adjusting to the other side of the line hasn’t been a problem.

“That’s the thing about us; one guy goes down, and we can move around and make it work,” Irwin said.
