Every year we learn their names, their numbers and their stats. If we’re lucky, we see their personality shine through after a big play or during the slice of a quote in the newspaper. The men in the Oklahoma Sooners jerseys are more than a number in a program or another chance at a national title. They are student athletes with stories waiting to be told. We’d like to thank OU Athletics Communications staff for their assistance. And now, The Oklahoman brings you “The Man Beneath The Helmet.”

NAME: Broson Irwin

If I weren’t playing football, I’d be golfing all the time.

If I could trade positions for a day, I’d choose kicker.

My favorite part of OU is Memorial Stadium.

Despite what you’ve heard, I’ve never been noodling.

My favorite part of football is playing Texas.

The weirdest question I’ve ever been asked is: do you like football.

I chose my number because it was the only one left my sophomore year in high school.

I’m on Twitter once an hour.

My favorite meal my momma makes is chicken parmesan.

I chose OU to win a national title.

Most people don’t know this but I can juggle.

The toughest part about being a student athlete is learning how to manage your time efficiently.

I wish I could be stronger, faster and bigger.

My best stress reliever is music.

On game day, I listen to rap and metal.

Something you should know about this team is we are great dancers.

My favorite super hero is the Hulk.

Nothing pumps me up more on Game Day than the fans.

My celebrity crush is Kate Beckinsale.

The person who motivates me most is my family.

Oklahoma football is the best football program in the country.
