Every year we learn their names, their numbers and their stats. If we’re lucky, we see their personality shine through after a big play or during the slice of a quote in the newspaper. The men in the Oklahoma Sooners jerseys are more than a number in a program or another chance at a national title. They are student athletes with stories waiting to be told. We’d like to thank OU Athletics Communications staff for their assistance. The Oklahoman brings you “The Man Beneath The Helmet.”

NAME: Tony Jefferson

If I weren’t playing football, I’d be acting and singing.

If I could trade positions for a day, I’d choose running back. Duh.

My favorite part of OU is Campus Corner.

Despite what you’ve heard, I’ve never ran over any rabbits or ducks.

My favorite part of football is game day.

The weirdest question I’ve ever been asked is: do you have Jello?

I chose my number because I wore it in high school.

My favorite meal my momma makes is carne asada. Ugh I miss home.

I chose OU because it’s not Texas.

Most people don’t know this but I am a wonderful singer. I sound like Biebs. (Justin Bieber)

The toughest part about being a student athlete is … well, I like school but not really. I still try to get good grades though.

I wish I could be tall.

My best stress reliever is saying I’m about whatever.

On game day, I listen to country, rap and the OU fight song.

Something you should know about this team is we’re fun.

My favorite super hero is SpongeBob.

Nothing pumps me up more on Game Day than music.

The person who motivates me most is my family.

Oklahoma football is super tight.
