OU released its “official music video” on Thursday afternoon, and it couldn’t have been more strange.

It was a two-minute mesh of overenthusiastic lyrics, questionable acting and awkward Bob Stoops appearances, combined to create some of the best unintentional comedy you’ll see.

But OU isn’t the first university to release a video of this kind. Nope, the Sooners’ valiant effort was just the newest version of this recent trend, using minimally talented white rappers in hopes of promoting the athletic department. The byproduct is YouTube gold.

Here’s a list of the five most awkwardly awesome school-affiliated rap videos ever:

5. OU anthem

Here’s the latest video that spawned this way-overdue post. You’ve got to love the fingerless biker gloves worn by the singer. Fits perfectly. And which of these provided a stranger moment? (1) The conversation convincing Stoops to be a part of this or (2) The actual filming of those scenes, when this random dude was rapping with his arms around Bob.

4. Boiler Up

It’s Purdue’s Bizarro ripoff of Oklahoma City’s ‘Thunder Up.’ And, by far, the best part has to be the mascot. His dancing is…interesting…throughout, but it never gets more awkward than at 2:36. Click and enjoy.

3. Murray State anthem

The actual rapping on this video is better than the previous two. And it gets topped off with the best cameo appearances on this list. Not only is the actual basketball team involved in filming, but I’m pretty sure they got one of their 65+ year-old professors to rock the shades and act like a groupie (Go to 3:05 and look at the bottom right of the video).
