The Man Beneath The Helmet — Stacy McGee

by Stephanie Kuzydym Modified: April 18, 2013 at 4:53 pm •  Published: October 31, 2012

Every year we learn their names, their numbers and their stats. If we’re lucky, we see their personality shine through after a big play or during the slice of a quote in the newspaper. The men in the Oklahoma Sooners jerseys are more than a number in a program or another chance at a national title. They are student athletes with stories waiting to be told. We’d like to thank OU Athletics Communications staff for their assistance. The Oklahoman brings you “The Man Beneath The Helmet.”

Former Oklahoma defensive tackle Stacy McGee will play in the Casino Del Sol College All-Star Game on Friday in Tucson, Ariz.

NAME: Stacy McGee

NICKNAME: Big Buck

If I weren’t playing football, I’d be playing baseball or working to help my family.

If I could trade positions for a day, I’d choose quarterback.

My favorite part of OU is Campus Corner.

My favorite part of football is game day.

The weirdest question I’ve ever been asked is “Do you know you play for OU?”

I chose my number because that’s what was given to me.

I’m on Twitter once a day.

My favorite meal my momma makes is fried chicken, mac and cheese and mashed potatoes.

I chose OU to win a national title.

Most people don’t know this but I like the outdoors.

The toughest part about being a student athlete is being in the spotlight.

I wish I could be faster.

My best stress reliever is sleep.

On game day, I listen to  rap.

Something you should know about this team is we are a family.

My favorite super hero is Batman.

Nothing pumps me up more on Game Day than the fans.

My celebrity crush is Alicia Keys.

The person who motivates me most is my family.

Oklahoma football is opening doors for my life.
