NORMAN — Oklahoma coach Bob Stoops tied the legendary Bud Wilkinson for second place with his 145th win as the Sooners’ coach Saturday at Iowa State.

Stoops can pass Wilkinson on the list with a win next weekend at home against Baylor, and would then need 12 more to pass Barry Switzer and become OU’s all-time winningest football coach.

During his Monday news conference, Stoops was asked if he’s thought about which building on campus he’d like to have named for him.

“Those are things … I’m just trying to get the next one (win). I’m trying to get the next this week and that’s it,” Stoops said.

“Truly, when that’s what you have to do, that’s all you think about.”

Stoops said later that he’s been approached about putting a statue up on campus, but said he doesn’t want that until he’s done coaching.

“They’ve asked and have it ready to go,” Stoops said. “I don’t want that at all. It would be weird to me. Not until I’m done. Who knows when that will be?”
