The Man Beneath The Helmet – Jamarkus McFarland

Every year we learn their names, their numbers and their stats. If we’re lucky, we see their personality shine through after a big play or during the slice of a quote in the newspaper. The men in the Oklahoma Sooners jerseys are more than a number in a program or another chance at a national title. They are student athletes with stories waiting to be told. We’d like to thank OU Athletics Communications staff for their assistance. The Oklahoman brings you “The Man Beneath The Helmet.”

NAME: Jamarkus McFarland

Nickname: J-Mac

If I weren’t playing football, I’d be going to school and getting my degree.

If I could trade positions for a day, I’d choose safety.

My favorite part of OU is Campus Corner.

My favorite part of football is being with friends.

The weirdest question I’ve ever been asked is “How does a double team feel?”.

I chose my number because of Tommie Harris.

I’m on Twitter once a day.

My favorite meal my momma makes is chicken and spaghetti.

I chose OU to win a national title.

Most people don’t know this but am very spiritual .

The toughest part about being a student athlete is time management.

I wish I could be faster.

My best stress reliever is music.

On game day, I listen to  rap.

If I could be Big 12 commissioner for a day, I would make the OU-UT game not a neutral-site game.

Something you should know about this team is it is a true family.

My favorite super hero is Superman.

Nothing pumps me up more on Game Day than the fans.

My celebrity crush is Alicia Keys.

The person who motivates me most is my family.

 Oklahoma football is a blessing.
