Former OU safety Tony Jefferson talks about OU coaches comments on his time in Norman

Former Oklahoma safety Tony Jefferson went on a Houston radio station today and said that an OU coach called to tell him the reports on Walter FB are untrue.

The report claimed that Oklahoma coaches said the former safety had bad practice habits and a lack of work ethic while he was a Sooner.

Here’s some of the transcript from the interview:

John Harris: Now Tony, I want to give you the opportunity to set everybody straight on this. There’s been a report out over the last day or two that described you as having a lack of work ethic and bad effort, horrible practice habits. What would you say to those people that are exposing those thoughts for you.

Jefferson: ”Funny thing is I just got off the phone with my coach. I guess those sites are just pretty much BS, you know what I mean. I knew my coaches would never say anything like that. One, because it was not true. Two, my coaches aren’t like that.

“I put it all on the line for my team and for the program and I’ve had the best time of my life being at the University of Oklahoma. My coach called me and set it straight, let me know everything that was said is obviously not true. I knew that.

“My coaches are good guys and we’ve always had a good relationship, ever since I got there. For everyone out there, you come as a freshman, you have a lack of work ethic at the University of Oklahoma, or a lack of work ethic throughout at any time, you won’t play there. That’s not how they work there. You’ve got to work at things on the field and off the field.

“I guess the website blew up from it because of it but I was glad to hear from my coaches to set it straight.”
