Big 12 women’s basketball power rankings: Oklahoma State drops to 3, Oklahoma to 5

The top and bottom of the Big 12 are easy to rank.

The middle? Not so much, with half of the conference’s teams splitting its games last week.

But here’s our latest Big 12 Power Rankings.

1. Baylor 18-1 (8-0 Big 12)
Last week: 1

No surprise here. Last week, the Lady Bears won in Ames by 15 and beat Oklahoma 82-65 in Waco.

2. Texas Tech (16-4, 6-2)
Last week: 5

The big riser in this week’s rankings, as the Lady Raiders have won four in a row, including an overtime victory against West Virginia on Tuesday. And Tech’s win in Stillwater to open conference play still stands tall.

3. Oklahoma State (15-3, 4-3)
Last week: 2

The Cowgirls split their Sunflower State road trip, losing in overtime to Kansas State before bouncing back with a double-digit win against Kansas. That performance in Manhattan will probably go down as a “bad loss” at the end of the season, but OSU’s throttling of Iowa State earlier this month is still one of the conference’s more impressive victories.

4. Iowa State (14-4, 5-3)
Last week: 3

ISU took its home loss to Baylor this week and notched a tough 53-49 win in Morgantown.

5. Oklahoma (15-4, 5-2)
Last week: 4

The Sooners played just once last week, an 82-65 loss at Baylor.

6. West Virginia (11-8, 3-5)
Last week: 7

WVU is way better than its record, with four of its Big 12 losses coming by four points or less. Still, the Mountaineers have dropped three straight and play OSU in Stillwater Tuesday.

7. Kansas (12-8, 3-5)
Last week: 6

The Jayhawks demolished Texas 76-38, but then lost to OSU in Lawrence Saturday night. It was the Cowgirls’ first sweep of KU since 1991 when both schools were part of the Big Eight.

8. Kansas State (12-8, 3-5)
Last week: 8

K-State grabbed a huge win over OSU in overtime Wednesday, and then proceeded to lose to previously winless Texas by 19. The Wildcats’ other two conference victories are against bottom-dweller TCU.

9. Texas (8-11, 1-7)
Last week: 9

The young Longhorns finally got in the win column in conference play with their big victory over K-State. And more wins could be coming, as they travel to Fort Worth to face TCU Saturday.

10. TCU (7-11, 0-7)
Last week: 10

It continues to be a rough go for the Big 12 newcomer. The Horned Frogs travel to Norman Wednesday, then host Texas Saturday.
