Chiropractor named regent at Redlands

— Gov. Mary Fallin recently appointed a new member to the Redlands Community College Board of Regents. Kent Carder, of El Reno, is a chiropractic physician and operates the Carder Chiropractic Clinic. He is an executive board member of the Oklahoma State Chiropractic Independent Physicians Association. He also is a member of the El Reno Lions Club and the El Reno Chapter of the Masonic Lodge, among other organizations. Carder replaces Linda Langmacher, who resigned.

Te Ata Fisher bronze planned

— Notable artist Jon Hair has been selected to sculpt a bronze monument of storyteller Te Ata Fisher for the campus of the University of Science and Arts.

The statue will be south of the Alumni Chapel and north of Grand Avenue.

Fisher grew up in Tishomingo and graduated from the Oklahoma College for Women, now USAO. She performed in New York but eventually developed her own one-woman show dedicated to Indian culture.
