A new member of the Deer Creek School Board will be chosen in a Tuesday runoff election.
Jerrod Roberts was the leader in the February election with 260 votes, followed by Keri Shipley with 232, but neither received the required majority.
Roberts, owner of Flourish Integrative Pharmacy in Oklahoma City, said he has lived in the district 10 years and wants to focus on meeting high expectations in the district.
The areas Roberts said he would like to focus on in coming years are safety, academics, inclusion of students, sports and fine arts.
Shipley is an active member of the PTO, formerly serving as president of the organization. She has lived in the district since 2006 and said she has volunteered several thousand hours in the school system.
Shipley's motivation, she said, is to bring a woman's perspective to the board, which is comprised of five men, and to connect the board to the community.
The winner will succeed board President David Miller, who has served five years on the board.
All registered voters in the district are eligible to vote in the race.
