UPDATE: Snow, wintry weather in Panhandle possible as rainy, cool weather hits central Oklahoma Tuesday

Rain will continue in central Oklahoma Tuesday and there is a chance for a wintry mix of precipitation in the Panhandle Tuesday night. Temperatures will stay below 45 degrees in Oklahoma City Tuesday.

6:15 a.m. Wintry weather is possible Tuesday night in the Oklahoma Panhandle, the National Weather Service reports. There could be 1 inch to 2 inches of snow by Wednesday in the Oklahoma Panhandle.

Temperatures are just above the freezing mark Tuesday morning. But about midnight a mixture of sleet, snow and rain is possible in the Panhandle.

5 a.m. Showers will continue Tuesday across central Oklahoma with temperatures in the low 40s, the National Weather Service reports.

Thunderstorms are possible Tuesday and more rain is likely Wednesday through Thursday with cool temperatures. Friday will be sunny with temperatures near 70.

The Oklahoma City forecast is as follows:

Tuesday: Showers and possibly a thunderstorm. Cloudy with a high near 44. Northeast wind 11 to 14 mph with gusts as high as 20 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70 percent.

Tuesday night: Showers likely. Cloudy with a low around 40. East, northeast wind around 11 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70 percent.
