Oklahoma City woman arrested on multiple animal cruelty complaints

Rhonda Leigh Haynie, 47, was arrested Monday on animal cruelty complaints after police and animal welfare officers found five starving horses in south Oklahoma City, police said.

An Oklahoma City woman was arrested on animal cruelty complaints Monday after police and animal welfare workers found five horses in poor health, police said.

Three of the horses were put down by a veterinarian.

Rhonda Leigh Haynie, 47, faces five animal cruelty complaints.

Police were called about 10:25 a.m. Monday to Wallace Horse Park, 14800 S Western Ave.

An animal welfare official told police five horses were found in various stages of starvation and showed a lack of care, according to the police report. One horse was lying down in his pen because he couldn't stand, according to the report.

Haynie, who owns the property, was present while police and animal welfare officials investigated the incident.

Animal welfare officials had been investigating Haynie since before January, according to the report.

Haynie was taken to the Oklahoma County jail. No bail information was available Tuesday afternoon, jail officials said. has disabled the comments for this article.
