Servers sue restaurant owners for taking wages to pay for walkouts Published: April 5, 2013

A group of servers at a Milwaukee restaurant have filed a class-action lawsuit, claiming they were not paid the minimum wage, which violates the Fair Labor Standards Act and Wisconsin wage and hour laws, according to the Journal-Sentinel Online.

The site reports the lawsuit contends that the La Fuente restaurant did not start paying workers the required $2.33 an hour until after each server’s first customer had been seated.

Even though the servers weren’t paid until then, the suit alleges that they were required to com in well before that time to roll silverware, set tables and ready the business, according to the Journal-Sentinel Online.
