AMES, Iowa — Oklahoma State rallied for five runs in the top of the seventh inning, but Iowa State held on for an 8-6 softball victory on Saturday at the Cyclone Sports Complex.
Trailing 8-1, the Cowgirls (24-16, 2-3 Big 12) rallied. With one out, the next seven OSU batters all reached base, including a two-run double by freshman Erika Campbell and bases-loaded walks drawn by Gessenia DeLaCruz and Tamara Brown. Ari Morrison's sacrifice fly made the score 8-6, but two more fly outs ended the game.
Morrison also had a solo home run. OSU starter Kat Espinosa (13-9) took the loss, allowing three runs on seven hits in four innings.
Tori Torrescano (8-8) picked up the win for the Cyclones (16-19, 2-3). Iowa State has won the first two games of the series, which concludes at noon Sunday.
