PAOLI — A man who barricaded himself inside a home after shooting another man to death Monday morning apparently took his own life, authorities said.
Garvin County Sheriff Larry Rhodes said Antonio Reynoso, 58, was found shot to death in the home about 4 p.m. after a standoff with sheriff's deputies and an Oklahoma Highway Patrol tactical team.
Reynoso locked himself in the house near U.S. 77 and Main Street after shooting Noel Sanchez-Gonzales to death earlier in the day, Rhodes said. Rhodes did not know Sanchez-Gonzales' exact age, but said he was in his early 20s.
Deputies were called to the home about 11:15 a.m. after a third person who was in the house escaped after the shooting and called 911. Rhodes asked the patrol to send its tactical team to help.
Armored vehicle used
Trooper Betsy Randolph said the team shot tear gas into the house before using an armored remote vehicle with a camera to look inside.
Reynoso was dead, apparently from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, Randolph said.
Rhodes said deputies still are investigating why Reynoso shot Sanchez-Gonzales. The witness who escaped the home is cooperating with investigators, he said.
