Fundraising dance planned Saturday in Edmond by Blue Star Mothers and church youth group

A fundraising dance will be held Saturday to benefit the Edmond / North Oklahoma City chapter of Blue Star Mothers and the youth group at Peace Lutheran Church.

The Edmond / North Oklahoma City chapter of Blue Star Mothers of America is partnering with the youth group from Peace Lutheran Church to hold a fundraising dance from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday at Peace Lutheran Church, 2600 E Danforth.

There is no set entry fee, but donations will be taken at the door.

The Blue Star Mothers will be raising money for postage to send care packages to deployed military in Afghanistan.

The youth group, known as LOFT (Letting Our Faith Thrive) will be raising money for their summer mission trip to the Mescalero Apache Reservation in Mescalero, N.M.

The dance will feature the Revive Praise Band performing music from the 1960s to 1990s. A costume contest will be held, and participants are encouraged to wear dance clothes from their favorite featured decade.

There will be a silent auction and snacks will be offered for purchase.
