A disaster preparedness program is set for 6 p.m. Tuesday in the Lowry Room of the Norman Public Library, 225 N Webster Ave. Brenda Hill from the Cleveland County OSU Extension Office will lead a program on how to prepare for disasters including tornadoes, fires and earthquakes. The program is free, but registration is required. To register, call 701-2600 or go to www.justsoyouknow.us/norman.

Library friends hold book drive

Friends of the Norman Library are accepting used books in good condition to stock inventory for fundraising sales. Donated books and other materials such as CDs and DVDs should be packed in small boxes or bags and brought to the sorting center, 226 W Gray St., between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Books sales help fund the children's summer reading program and other library events. For more information, call 701-2600. Big Read sponsors movie night

The Pioneer Library System will sponsor free screenings of the movie based on Big Read featured author Tobias Wolff's novel “This Boy's Life” at 6:30 p.m. April 17 at Cinema Center 8, 3031 N Harrison St. in Shawnee, and 6:30 p.m. April 18 at the Warren Theatre, 1000 Telephone Road in Moore.
