OSU program benefits students in Iraq

STILLWATER -- A three-year-old program at Oklahoma State University is giving college students in Iraq years of benefit in finance and banking, petroleum engineering and computer engineering.



The Stillwater NewsPress reports that seven department heads and faculty members from the University of Basrah recently ended a 10-da visit to OSU as part of the Linkage Program.

It is a federally-funded initiative designed to improve curriculum and instruction in Iraq.

Khaled Gasem, chemical engineering department chairman at OSU, told the newspaper: “The idea was to see how we could lend a helping hand to bring their capabilities and their capacities to produce competent professionals in engineering, finance and computers at a level to compete on the world stage.”
