Woman's finger nearly bitten off

An Oklahoma City man nearly bit a woman's finger off after the two got into an argument, according to a police report released Wednesday. Lanny Morgan, 42, was arrested on complaints of domestic abuse in the presence of a child and domestic abuse by strangulation. Police were called to the 2400 block of NW 32 about 1:15 p.m. Saturday by a woman who told them Morgan had nearly bitten her finger in half after she tried to fight him off while he choked her, according to the report. The couple's 11-year-old son came into the kitchen and tried to stop Morgan from choking his mother. Morgan pushed the boy away and bit down on the woman's finger, according to the report. Morgan was booked into the Oklahoma County jail, with his bail set at $14,000.

Venue changed for murder trial

An Okfuskee County judge has ordered one of two murder trials pending against Kevin Sweat — accused of murdering his girlfriend and two Weleetka girls — moved to Creek County. Sweat, 27, was charged in September 2011 with first-degree murder in the death of his former fiancee, Ashley Taylor. District Judge Lawrence Parish ordered a change of venue Tuesday, moving the murder trial from Okemah to Bristow. The trial is scheduled to begin June 10. Sweat also has been charged with first-degree murder in the slayings of Skyla Whitaker, 11, and Taylor Paschal-Placker, 13, who were gunned down near Weleetka in June 2008.
