Oklahoma bison hit big screen

PAWHUSKA — Some of Oklahoma's biggest residents will be on the big screen nationwide beginning Friday.

Bison from the Tallgrass Prairie Preserve near here will appear in "To The Wonder,” featuring actors Ben Affleck and Rachel McAdams, the Bartlesville Examiner-


Enterprise reports.

The cast and crew of "To The Wonder" spent several days at the northeastern Oklahoma preserve in November 2010 shooting scene that included the bison.

In a fortunate move, all 2,100 bison were in a 1,500-acre holding pasture at one time when the shooting began, a rare occurrence, preserve officials said.

The animals were cooperative when being positioned for their scenes, the officials said.
