Despite their unquestionable 1-2 placement as the NBA’s best players, LeBron James and Kevin Durant have far different styles.
But when it comes to their in-game tactic of fan celebration, the two are mirror images.
Remember last month, when LeBron tackled a Heat fan after he drilled a halfcourt shot? (It made national news. View the video by clicking here.)
Well, it happened in Oklahoma City on Sunday night. And Durant was there to play the role of LeBron.
Thunder fan Justin Dougherty, from Springfield, Missouri, drilled the $20,000 shot during a second half timeout and broke out in a wild celebration (video above). But despite the raucous scene, Dougherty still had his priorities in line.
“As soon as I hit it, I went to find my girlfriend (first),” Dougherty told FSN Oklahoma soon after. “And then I went to find Kevin Durant.”
Probably a smart move.
Because by the time Dougherty returned to midcourt, all eyes in the arena were still on him. And that included Durant’s, whom Dougherty waved over for a celebratory tackle.
“I said ‘Kevin, come at me,’ ” Dougherty recalled to FSN. “And he came at me and he was totally game for it.”
“I’ve seen the LeBron footage plenty of times and I was watching the game that night when it all popped up and I was telling the guys and I told my girlfriend that I want Russell Westbrook or Kevin Durant to tackle me.”
Looks like dreams really do come true, however strange and unlikely they may be.
