Newkirk commissioners fire city manager Published: April 15, 2013

NEWKIRK -- City commissioners took care of the routine business, then went into executive session.

When they came out, they voted to fire city city manager; set a severance package that included payment for incurred personal and vacation time; and appoint the city clerk, the Newkirk Herald reported.

As to a cause for the firing, commissioners said Stone did not have the same vision for the city that local people did.

They also said a change in leadership was needed.
