STILLWATER — Mike Yurcich's large leap from Division II Shippensburg University to Oklahoma State is reflected in a hefty salary bump.

The new Cowboy offensive coordinator's total compensation for 2013 is $400,000, according to OSU spokesman Gary Shutt. That's more than seven times the $52,500 he made last year at Shippensburg.

OSU's previous offensive coordinator, Todd Monken, made $600,000 last year. He was the highest-paid assistant for 2012, followed by offensive line coach Joe Wickline ($440,000).

The rest of the Cowboy assistant coach salaries for the upcoming year have not been released. OSU hired three new position coaches in Joe Bob Clements (defensive line), Jason Ray (inside receivers) and Tim Duffie (safeties) and promoted Glenn Spencer from co-defensive coordinator to defensive coordinator.

Yurcich, who was hired in February, directed a potent Shippensburg attack that led Division II in total offense (529.92 yards per game) and ranked second in passing offense (387.69 yards per game) and scoring offense (46.85 points per game) last season. At OSU, he takes over a unit that ranked fourth in the nation in total offense (547 yards per game), third in scoring offense (45.69 points per game) and seventh in passing offense (331.69 yards per game) in 2012.
