DEL CITY — Police arrested two people Wednesday and seized drugs, cash and cellphones after a monthslong investigation into food stamp fraud and drug trafficking.
Five children between the ages of 1 and 14 were taken from the couple's home, an apartment in the 3200 block of S Bryant Avenue.
Sherray Deon Curry, 31, and Tramell Wilson, 33, were arrested on numerous complaints including possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, food stamp trafficking and child neglect.
Police Maj. Jody Suit said officers seized a quarter pound of marijuana packaged for sale, about $600 in cash and 19 cellphones. The phones were government-issued and supposed to be given out through a federal program.
The children were placed in the custody of the state Department of Human Services.
Suit said Curry was buying food stamp cards from people at a discount and using the cards to buy groceries, which she resold at a profit.
He said officers have been investigating the case since December.
Curry and Wilson were taken to the Oklahoma County jail and were being held without bond, jail officials said.
