Some OSU news you might’ve missed …

After a week filled with breaking news and big headlines, there was a bit of news out of Stillwater that might’ve gone under your radar.

Oklahoma State is lowering prices for some of its football tickets.

The cost-reduction plan was announced amid swirling rumors about Dana Holgorsen’s future and the Cowboys’ next offensive coordinator. With news that big it’s easy to see why this news might’ve gotten a wee bit overlooked, but the fact remains that the cost of 20 percent of the seats inside Boone Pickens Stadium will decrease next season.

Athletic director Mike Holder said that the move was made in response to fans asking for more pricing options.

People asked, and OSU responded.

Good for them, I say.

Holder and Co. have been criticized in past years for raising ticket prices, but frankly, the cost of a Cowboy football ticket was so low compared to other Big 12 teams, OSU had to do something to raise revenue and try to get on par with the rest of the conference. Holder took the unpopular step of raising prices even when the Cowboys weren’t necessarily all that good.

Now, with a team that has a chance to win 11 games for the first time in program history, it would’ve been easy for Holder to justify a bump in ticket prices.
