George Lang talked to Mel Gibson about his return to acting in “Edge of Darkness” on today’s Planet 46.

“I walked away from acting after ‘Signs’ because I just felt I was a bit stale. It wasn’t ringing my bells, so I focused on directing, writing, producing and all that kind of stuff. But it was time to come back,” Gibson said during a news conference at Santa Monica’s Shutters on the Beach. “I got the acting bug back because I felt like, all of a sudden, maybe after all these years, I might have something to offer again, and it coincided with a very good piece of material. It was a compelling story with good elements attached, and I dug it.”

“Edge of Darkness” is directed by Martin Campbell, who will join Ryan Reynolds on the adaptation of the DC comic book “Green Lantern.”
