Mouse Guard Week at Nerdage
This week on Nerdage, I’ll spotlight the New York Times-bestselling graphic novel series, “Mouse Guard.”
The first volume, “Mouse Guard Vol. 1: Fall 1152″ has sold more than 80,000 copies in hardcover since its 2007 release, and is going back to press for a third printing arriving in stores this month. The book is written and drawn by David Petersen, and is possibly the most well-regarded fantasy comic since Jeff Smith’s “Bone.”
“Fall is an amazing story with equally incredible art, especially the tremendous coloring David puts on display on every page,” said PJ Bickett, President of Archaia Entertainment in a release. “So, it is no surprise to me that there continues to be a demand for this book. But it was a shock to see how overwhelming the demand has become since the release of Mouse Guard [Vol. 2]: Winter [1152].”
Petersen talked to Nerdage about the Free Comic Book Day issue of Mouse Guard, the upcoming anthology series “Mouse Guard: Legends of the Guard,” the third volume of “Mouse Guard,” a six-issue limited series titled “The Black Axe,” as well as plans for further sequels and possible movie adaptations.
