Deadline reports that Henry Cavill has been cast as Clark Kent and Superman in the upcoming Warner Bros. reboot of the “Superman” property, to be directed by Zack Snyder.

Cavill, 28, was previously considered for the Superman role when Brett Ratner had been attached to the

project prior to “Superman Returns.”  The British Cavill has previously been seen in “The Tudors” and “The Count of Monte Cristo.”

Snyder made a statement on Cavill’s casting, as quoted at Deadline:

“In the pantheon of superheroes, Superman is the most recognized and revered character of all time, and I am honored to be a part of his return to the big screen. I also join Warner Bros., Legendary and the producers in saying how excited we are about the casting of Henry.  He is the perfect choice to don the cape and S shield.”

What do you think about this casting? Does it make you more likely to see the film?   The Superman movie is set for a Dec. 2012 release.
