Shane Black, who directed Robert Downey Jr. in “Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang” is in final negotiations to re-team with the actor and direct “Iron Man 3.”  (via Deadline and BAM)

Black wrote the first two “Lethal Weapon” movies and at one point was the highest-paid screenwriter in Hollywood.

It was recently reported he would direct the adaptation of the anime “Death Note” for Warner Bros.; he’s also working on “Doc Savage” for Sony.

Jon Favreau, who directed “Iron Man” and “Iron Man 2″ gave up the director spot for the third film to direct “Magic Kingdom” for Disney. (Marvel is owned by Disney.)
