Here’s a recap on how the comic-book reading challenge has been going for the past 2 weeks.

With 68 comic books read over the past two weeks, I’m close to the pace I need to maintain, but not quite there.  Around 80 would be better.

With 429 comics read to date, I’m  21.3 percent through the 2,011 comics I plan to read in 2011. The year is 23.5 percent over, so I’m a little more than 2 percent behind schedule.  (That translates to just over a week.)

Marvel is again out front in the number of comics read.  DC made a surge with my reading of the Showcase edition of “Batman and the Outsiders.”

Marvel: 41
DC: 22
Radical: 3
IDW: 1
Atlas: 1

And by decade, the 1970s were the most-read in this two-week period.
1960s – 3
1970s – 27
1980s – 21
2000s – 5
2010s – 12

And the total breakdowns to date:

By company, Marvel extends its lead, nearing 200 total comics.  DC Comics moves into third.

Marvel Comics: 193
Image Comics: 56
DC Comics:  44
Dark Horse: 34
Valiant Comics: 33
Malibu: 22
NOW Comics: 12
Eclipse Comics: 9
Dynamite: 7
Broadway: 6
IDW: 5
Radical: 4
Archie: 3
Atlas: 2
Triumphant: 1
By date range, the 2000s move back into first place.  The 1990s follow at second and the 1980s are in third.
1960-1969 – 5
1970-1979: 38
1980-1989:  90
1990-1999: 106
2000-2009: 110
2010-present:  80
