Nerdage’s #23 actor with geek appeal, Jeremy Renner, has been signed to play Marvel’s battling bowman, Hawkeye, in the 2012 film “The Avengers,” to be directed by Joss Whedon.

Renner is a two-time Oscar nominee who has also set his sights on a Steve McQueen biopic and on starring in the next “Bourne” film, “The Bourne Legacy.”
