Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen, who played Professor X and Magneto in the X-Men films, are returning for “X-Men: Days of Future Past,” director Bryan Singer announced via twitter.

Singer also announced “First Class” stars James McAvoy, Jennifer Lawrence, Michael Fassbender and Nicholas Hoult were returning for the sequel.   The film is set for release July 18, 2014.  In “First Class,” McAvoy and Fassbender played a young Prof. X and Magneto; Lawrence played Mystique and Hoult played Beast.

So what will the movie do with two Professor Xs and Magnetos? In the comics, “Days of Future Past” involved time-travel and a future controlled by mutant-hunting Sentinel robots in a 1981 Chris Claremont-John Byrne storyline.
