Director Bryan Singer has announced via twitter that Hugh Jackman, who has played Wolverine in five X-Men films, is on board to join “X-Men: Days of Future Past.”

The film is set for release July 18, 2014. The movie is technically a sequel to “X-Men: First Class,” but with the direction of Singer, who directed the first two “X-Men” films, and the presence of original “X-Men” stars including Hugh Jackman and Patrick Stewart, the film is expected to take place in multiple timelines.
In the comics, “Days of Future Past” involved time-travel and a future controlled by mutant-hunting Sentinel robots in a 1981 Chris Claremont-John Byrne storyline.
