College baseball: OU routs New Orleans, OSU pounds Kansas State

Oklahoma pitcher Jonathan Gray had a strong outing, and Matt Oberste collected three hits Friday as No. 10-ranked Oklahoma routed New Orleans 10-0 in a college baseball game at Mitchell Park in Norman.

Gray pitched six innings and held the Privateers (6-34) to just two hits and no walks. Gray struck out 10 before giving way to the relief corps.

Oberste scored twice and added an RBI while leading the hit parade. The Sooners (29-10) collected 13 total hits, including a Jack Mayfield home run.

The teams continue the series at 2 p.m. Saturday.

OSU BEATS K-STATE

Robbie Rea hit two home runs and finished with three RBIs on Friday as Oklahoma State beat Kansas State 9-2 in Big 12 baseball at Allie P. Reynolds Stadium in Stillwater.

Rea's homers complemented an exceptional pitching performance from Jason Hursh. He surrendered 11 hits in seven innings, but he walked just two and struck out seven. Reliever Alex Hackerott pitched one inning and struck out the side.

The series continues at 3 p.m. Saturday. Admission to the game is free.
