A 14-year-old girl has been arrested in the death of her infant son, police report.

The boy, Jaiden Respicio, who was 7 months old, was taken by ambulance to a hospital from a home in the 4700 block of SE 18 on Sunday morning, police Capt. Jody Suit said.

Jaiden was unresponsive and was pronounced dead at the hospital, Suit said.

The boy's mother, Jennifer Respicio, 14, was arrested on a homicide complaint and taken to the Oklahoma County jail.

“The boy's death at this time is believed to be from child abuse,” Suit said.

The baby boy had traumatic injuries that led doctors and officers to believe the death was a homicide from abuse.

The grandmother of the boy had custody of the boy but she was at work, Suit said. The girl was home with her son and a boyfriend, Suit said.

“Investigators believe Jennifer Respicio is the only one responsible for his death,” Suit said.

He said the father of the boy is 15 years old but is not believed to have been involved in the death. Suit said the state Department of Human Services and police are still investigating the case.
