City wants to raise the smoking age to 21

New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg plans to raise the legal age to purchase cigarettes and other tobacco products from 18 to 21, according to The Wall Street Journal.



The proposal marks the latest effort to combat smoking in five boroughs. Last month, Bloomberg proposed legislation that would require stores to keep tobacco products hidden from public view, according to The Journal.
