Tara Platt, Nerdage’s #16 actress with geek appeal, maybe best known as the voice of Temari on the anime hit “Naruto,” but she has also portrayed superheroes Dream Girl (on “Legion of Superheroes”) and Wonder Woman (on the “DC vs. Mortal Kombat” game). She’s appeared on “Charmed,” “Attack of the Show” and recently, “Parenthood.” With husband Yuri Lowenthal, she’s written the book “Voice-Over Voice Actor: What It’s Like Behind the Mic,” which is a fantastic look at how to work in that industry. She’s starred in films, including “Death’s Door,” shown above, and “Time and Tide.”
She got her start in Oklahoma, where she lived from ages 7 to 11.
“I remember we went to see ‘Annie Get Your Gun,’ and there were a bunch of kids my age in the chorus,” Platt said in an interview with The Oklahoman. “They were dressed up in fun costumes and singing and seemed to be having a blast. After the show, I turned to my mom and said, ‘I wanna do that.’”
Upcoming projects include the films “Love Sick Diaries,” “A Guy, A Girl, A Space Helmet” and “The Arcadian.”
