Comic Book Resources and others are reporting the death of artist Joe Kubert.  Kubert, who was 85, was one of comics’ most acclaimed artists, with credits ranging from Hawkman to Tarzan to Sgt. Rock.

He founded the Joe Kubert School of Cartoon and Graphic Art, and created compelling nonfiction in “Fax From Sarajevo” and speculative historical fiction in”Yossel.”  Kubert co-created Sgt. Rock, and was one of the best-known artists for the “Tarzan” comic book series.  His sons, Adam and Andy, are both successful comics artists.

Sad day for comics fans as we say goodbye to one of the greats. Thoughts are with Joe Kubert’s family and friends.
