Superherohype has revealed the first official picture of Hugh Jackman as Wolverine in the film “The Wolverine.”
The film, based on the Chris Claremont-Frank Miller comic-book miniseries that featured Wolverine in Japan, is directed by James Mangold. IMDB quotes Jackman about the story of Wolverine in Japan:
“There are so many areas of that Japanese story,” Jackman said. “I love the idea of this kind of anarchic character, the outsider, being in this world full of honor and tradition and customs; someone who’s really anti-all of that, and trying to negotiate his own way. The idea of the samurai too, and the tradition there – it’s really great.”
Jackman has played Wolverine in three “X-Men” films and a solo feature with the character (plus a cameo in another X-film). The second “Wolverine” film faced several delays in pre-production, but is now set for a July 26, 2013 release.
The film also stars Will Yun Lee, Khodchenkova, Hiroyuki Sanada, Hal Yamanouchi, Tao Okamoto, Rila Fukushima and Brian Tee.
