Kate Beckinsale: Nerdage’s #14 actress

Kate Beckinsale comes in at #14 in Nerdage’s list of actresses with geek appeal.   She starred in three “Underworld” films as Selene, and rumors of a fourth keep popping up, though she denied them at the press junket for “Whiteout” in 2009.

“I don’t know anything about a fourth Underworld. I don’t know anything about that, at this point. It was always conceived as a trilogy, and I was never going to be in the third one. If they came up with an amazing script than sure, I definitely wouldn’t be adverse to it. But, it’s not necessarily planned,” she said.
Then, when asked about plans for an entire second trilogy:
“Oh, God. Three whole more? I don’t think my daughter needs to see my bottom in rubber for another 10 years. I don’t know. I heard they wanted to do a fourth one, but I don’t know if that’s official or if that’s just a rumor. As far as I’m concerned, it’s a rumor.”

However, reports have the film to be directed by her husband, Len Weisman, with a release date of September 23, 2011. Wiseman directed the first two of the three “Underworld” films.  In February, Beckinsale’s involvement seemed to be confirmed, though Beckinsale may be angling for a smaller role in the film.
