Boom! Studios has announced that “Darkwing Duck,” initially announced as a four-issue miniseries, will expand to become an ongoing monthly series.    To help meet demand, Boom! is offering a 3% reorder incentive to retailers through Diamond Comic Distributors.

“The fan response for Darkwing Duck has been amazing!” said “Darkwing Duck” writer Ian Brill in a news release. “The fans wanted more, so we’ll give them more! Not just more issues but more adventure and more humor. After the first story, which will have big changes for Darkwing and family, we’re going to take the readers on an even crazier ride!”

According to Boom!, as the first story arc begins, Darkwing Duck has not been seen or heard from in more than a year.  But with evil on the rise, it’s time for Darkwing to return.

“Darkwing Duck” No. 1 is written by Ian Brill (“Zombie Tales”) and drawn by James Silvani (“Muppet King Arthur”).  The issue ships June 16.

“Darkwing Duck” was a popular Disney animated series throughout the 1990s, spinning off from “DuckTales” and featuring a superhero duck inspired by pulp characters such as The Shadow.
