I am helping out with the Oklahoman’s coverage of the NCAA Tournament at the Ford Center so this week I will be blogging about Kansas and Lehigh.

Here’s a closer look at the Jayhawks:

–Senior point guard Sherron Collins, one of the nation’s top PGs, leads the Jayhawks with 15.6 points per game. He also leads the squad in assists at 4.4 per game.

–Center Cole Aldrich is KU’s leading rebounder at 9.9 rebounds per game. He shoots 55.9 percent from the field and averages 11.2 points per game.

Xavier Henry (13.6) and Marcus Morris (12.3) join Collins and Aldrich as double figure scorers for KU.

Tyrel Reed is a sharp shooter from outside, hitting 46.3 percent of his three-pointers (38 of 82). Henry ranks second on the squad among three-point shooters with 75 or more attempts at 41.5 percent (66 of 159).

–Henry is generally considered one of the top freshmen in the nation after winning two state championships and being named to the Oklahoman’s Super Five team three times during his high school career at Putnam City.

–Kansas outscores opponents by an average of 18 points and allow just 37.7 percent shooting from the field.

–The Jayhawks also average more assists, blocks and steals than their opponent.

–Kansas only losses came to Tennessee and Oklahoma State. Both teams join the Jayhawks in the Midwest Region.

Here’s a video on Sherron Collins:
