I am helping with the Oklahoman’s coverage of the NCAA Tournament at the Ford Center so I will be blogging about Kansas and Lehigh for much of the week.

Here’s a closer look at the Lehigh basketball team:

–Freshman C.J. McCollum averages 18.9 points and 4.9 rebounds per game. He’s a superb shooter who leads is the nation’s scoring leader among freshmen. Not John Wall, not DeMarcus Cousins, not Xavier Henry… McCollum. He’s the Patriot League Player of the Year and Rookie of the Year.

–As a team, the Mountian Hawks shoot 40 percent from the three point line (213-532). McCullom is their leading three-point shooter at 42.9 percent.

Zahir Carrington is the team’s leading rebounder at 6.7 boards per game.

Marquis Hall leads the team in assists with 5.7 per game.

–This is Lehigh’s first neutral site game this season.

–Hall (11.0) and Carrington (10.8) join McCollum as double figure scorers.

Here’s a video clip of C.J. in high school:
