I am helping out with the Oklahoman’s NCAA Tournament coverage and will be blogging on Kansas and Lehigh throughout the week.

Here are some quick Lehigh tidbits:

–Lehigh starts two freshmen including the nation’s top freshman scorer C.J. McCollum, who averages 18.9 points per game. Forward Gabe Knutson is Lehigh’s other freshman starter.

–Lehigh’s school mascot is the Mountain Hawks.

–Lehigh defeated Army, American and Lafayette to earn the Patriot League Tournament title.

–Lehigh lost to No. 1 seed Georgetown 68-43 in Hartford, Conn. in the 1985 NCAA Tournament. They also lost to No. 1 seed Temple 87-73 in Hartford, Conn. in the 1988 NCAA Tournament. The Mountain Hawks lost 72-57 to Florida A&M in the Opening Round game of the 2004 NCAA Tournament in Dayton, Ohio.

–Lehigh is one of seven teams whose men’s and women’s teams earned automatic bids to the NCAA Tournament this season.

–Lehigh’s Matt Shamis was a teammate at Glenbrook North High (Ill.) with Duke’s Jon Scheyer. Marquis Hall was a AAU teammate of Duke’s Kyle Singler.
