With recruiting season in full swing, I will be evaluating all 26 prospects who are currently committed to the Oklahoma State football program. I will go in alphabetical order and will post three or four evaluations per day during the next week.

My evaluations will conclude next Friday when I rank OSU’s commitments including their chances of having an immediate impact in Stillwater.

Kevin Johnson, Houston (Texas) Cypress Ridge

Position: Receiver

Ht, Wt: 6-2, 190

Vitals: 4.4 in 40, 230 bench, 405 squat, 33-inch vertical

Picked OSU over… Arizona, Arkansas, Illinois, Baylor, Kansas, Minnesota and others

Pros: Johnson has very good straight line speed and is a good route runner. Could develop into a deep threat with excellent size and the ability to use his body to make key catches. Has the size and speed to develop into a solid starter and has the potential to be a tough cover with his route running ability.

Cons: Needs to improve his explosiveness after the catch.

Expect an impact in… 2011. I’d expect Johnson to redshirt during his first year on campus, but I could see him having an immediate impact during his redshirt freshman season.

Here is Johnson in action (#14):
