The numbers are staggering.
24 receptions, 431 yards, eight touchdowns, 17.96 yards per catch average.
Oklahoma State receiver Justin Blackmon has been dominant in his first three games as a sophomore.
“I have surprised myself,” Blackmon said. “It’s very surprising the success I’ve had so far.”
Seeing Blackmon’s name atop the nation’s best in receiving yardage and scoring was far from expected. The Ardmore native showed signs of being a potential playmaker as a redshirt freshman but never became a big part of the offense in 2009.
Now, Blackmon has to be considered one of the nation’s top receivers. The numbers don’t lie. He’s averaging eight receptions and 143.7 yards per game and he’s been unstoppable in one-on-one situations.
“It’s surprising but not surprising,” he said. “Because I knew it could happen but I didn’t think it would happen this quick.”
