Oklahoma State Cowboys at the U.S. Open

The U.S. Open begins Thursday at Congressional in Washington, D.C., and the tournament isn’t short on Cowboys.

Several former Oklahoma State golfers are in the field and making headlines on and off the course.

* We have to start with the Golf Boys and their “Oh Oh Oh” video.  If you haven’t seen it yet stop what you’re doing and watch it right now.

Yep, that’s former Oklahoma State golfers Hunter Mahan and Rickie Fowler with Bubba Watson and Ben Crane as the Golf Boys. The video is completely goofy but it’s for a good cause. For every 100,000 hits the video gets on YouTube, Farmers Insurance is donating $1,000 to charity.

Here’s hoping the hoopla and inevitable ribbing these guys are going to get from the “country club crowd” in golf doesn’t take away from what the video is for: charity.

* The Golf Boys video wasn’t the first viral video of the week for Fowler. The mop-topped Cowboy did some promotional work in D.C. earlier this week. One of his appearances was with Red Bull and Fowler attempted a blind shot between two buildings, around one fountain hazard and onto an island green placed in another fountain. Easy stuff right? Guess what he did….

Wow.

* Fowler: This is Fowler’s third U.S. Open in his young PGA career. His best finish was a tie for 60th in 2008 at Torrey Pines. If Fowler can find some consistency in his game this week, look for him to finish much higher that 60th.
