At 6-foot-4 and 222 pounds, he's got ideal NFL size and an accurate arm. The knocks on him: his arm strength is good not great and he doesn't have much mobility. And he's 28 years old. Analysis of the upcoming NFL Draft – April 26-28 – will be dizzying in the coming weeks.

There will be much mocking and talking and critiquing. And for Cowboys fans, it’s a fascinating draft, with Justin Blackmon pegged for the top 10 and Brandon Weeden just on the brink of the first round and more Pokes sure to go during the seven rounds of selections.

Weeden’s status is particularly intriguing, with his age the only apparent drag on him rising among the elite.

Around here, we can’t grasp the fascination with Texas A&M’s Ryan Tannehill, especially when he placed side-by-side with Weeden.

Oh well.

At least one analyst, ESPN’s Trent Dilfer, a former NFL quarterback, is buying on Weeden’s future.

In a take on the top quarterbacks in this year’s draft, Dilfer suggests Weeden’s age and maturity are an asset, rather than a liability.
